How to determine if your job is actually the right career for you is not something very easy, but it is also something you will be able to do, only if you put some time into it. If you do it in few simple steps, you will find it in the future that it is certainly something that you are glad to have done now.
The first thing with your career is to check if you really like it. Now, think about your job and the workplace. Think if you are happy with how your job is going, how much you earn and how far have you got in sense of job position.
If everything about your job makes you happy and you would not change even a bit of it, then you are in the right place and you should probably not change anything about it. If you are on the other hand far from the perfect, then you should think a bit more about changing the career.
To know where should be best to go next, you should think about what makes you happy. There must be at least one thing that you did that made you laugh or just made you happy. Whatever it is, that is the direction you need to think about.
If for example, you enjoyed your time when you were designing a logo at some point of your life, you may want to take a look at the opportunities that are awaiting you in the design area. Do not search only logo design, there are various similar careers that you should look for, like web design, painting or even clothing design, just pay attention what lights a spark in you when you see something that you like. On the other hand you may have liked the feeling of being in charge and making people purchase from you or follow you, just like if you were a marketing manager. If that is the case, it will be easy to find a place that needs someone to lead them and items to sell, just make sure that you sell your services to them at a descent price.
Now, while it may be easy, it does not mean that it is not going to take some time. Usually these things need only time and nothing else. If you stick with them through the first few weeks, you will find yourself on the top pretty soon. In this time, if you already know what you should look for in a job, you should go and take a class or two on the subject or on subjects of interest. It is always good to be prepared and with freshened knowledge there will be nothing stopping you. The only thing you should not do, is to let someone talk you out of doing the right thing, just because they are too scared to do anything about their career.

Well, that is known to happen to some people. It is usually a sign that you have worked too long without thinking about yourself and your needs. What you should do is, take some time and go slowly from one career to another while keeping the original one as well. This way you will not break any connections and money income while you will be able to test various opportunities that are available around you.
Only if you have taken all the possible careers around you, is when you should think about a wider picture and search for something different. You may be a farmer in disguise. You may also be a circus manager and owner, or you may be highly renowned car dealer and dealership owner.
For those that have a really hard time searching for what makes them happy, they should think about making other people happy instead. Working in candy store, or being fire fighter is one of the things that give great satisfaction, either when seeing a smile on child’s face, or after saving someone’s life.
